By default, Oystehr Messaging can only send SMS messages to phone numbers in the United States and Canada.

If you would like to enable messaging to other countries, please contact [email protected].

How Oystehr Counts Messages

SMS is limited to 160 characters per message. If you send a message that is more than 160 characters, the message will be sent in multiple parts — also known as a segment — and you will be charged for each part.

For example, consider the following message:

"Thank you for signing up for an appointment on July 10th at 2:00pm Eastern. You do not need to do any paperwork for this appointment, and if you have any questions please contact us at example.com"

This message is 196 characters, so the message will be sent in two segments. Messages in the United States and Canada are $0.0079 per segment, so you will be charged $0.0079 * 2 = $0.0158, plus carrier fees.
